Speaker Introduction

CS Tan graduated from University Sains Malaysia (USM) in 1991 with a 1st Class Honours degree in Applied Physics, and is a winner of the Faculty Gold Medal. He holds an MBA from USM as well. He was appointed as Adjunct Professor to the Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering in UTeM, Melaka, and was recently awarded Honorary Doctor of Engineering by UTeM.   

Dr. Tan started his career in National Semiconductor Penang and has an illustrious career spanning 35 years. He has been the VP/General Manager of large MNC factories, such as Flextronics, ON Semiconductor, and finally ST Microelectronics Muar, where he took early retirement in October 2025 to dedicate more time as an Industry Consultant/Advisor, all the while promoting Industry 4.0, smart manufacturing and the principles of responsible business ethics in accordance to RBA. Dr. Tan was on the Board of MSIA and on the Regional Advisory Board of SEMI. In 2026, Dr. Tan has been appointed as Business Advisor to TSIC Holdings, CCTech and also Industry Consultant to BCG (Boston Consulting Group).
