Biography
Dr. Yau Wei Chuen is an Associate Professor in the School of Computing and Data Science at Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM), where he has served as a pioneering academic staff member since its establishment in 2016. He is currently the leader of the Cyber Security Research Group within SCDS. Dr. Yau received his BS and MS degrees from the National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan, and his PhD degree from the Multimedia University, Malaysia. He is a Chartered Engineer (CEng), a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), and a Professional Technologist in Cyber Security. In addition, he holds several industry-recognized certifications, including GMOB (GIAC Mobile Device Security Analyst), GSEC (GIAC Security Essentials), and HCIA (Huawei Certified ICT Associate) - Datacom.
Dr. Yau’s research interests include cryptography, security protocols, intrusion detection, network security, blockchain, and machine learning. He served as General Co-Chair of Mycrypt 2016 and has been invited to serve on program committees for various international conferences. He also contributes as a guest editor and reviewer for numerous academic journals. Dr. Yau has served as a member of the Evaluation Panel for MySEAL (National List of Trusted Cryptographic Algorithms). Additionally, he has led or participated in multiple research projects funded by the Malaysian government. He is also actively involved in providing research consultancy and professional training to industry partners.
