Biography
Dr. Ng Zi Neng earned his Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Electronics in 2011. He went on to pursue a Master of Engineering Science degree, which he completed in 2014. Continuing his academic journey, he obtained a PhD in Engineering from Multimedia University in 2019, with a thesis titled "Fabrication and Characterization of Doped ZnO Films and Diodes."
During his PhD studies, Dr. Ng gained valuable teaching experience by assisting his faculty with various engineering subjects, including Circuit Theory, Electronics 1 and 2, Digital Signal Processing, and Physics Laboratory. As he neared the completion of his PhD, he was hired as a sessional lecturer at Monash University, teaching for two semesters in 2019. In 2020, he was promoted to Scholarly Teaching Fellow in the Department of Electrical & Computer Systems Engineering. During his tenure, he contributed significantly to teaching courses such as Electrical Circuits, Engineering Design: Cleaner, Safer, Smarter, Digital Systems, and Electrical Energy Systems.
At Xiamen University Malaysia, Dr. Ng continues to impart his knowledge, contributing to the development of future engineers. He is the course lecturer for Engineering Physics (I), Electrical Machinery & Drive, Electrical Energy Utilization, and First Step into MATLAB for undergraduate. He is also the course coordinator for Capstone Project (II). His research interests include electronic materials, semiconductor devices, and sustainable energy systems.
Research Interest
Semiconductors and thin film materials, micro and nano device applications, sensors, solar cells, electrochromic devices.
