Biography
Driven by a fascination of how culture shapes and is shaped by communication, Dr. Balqis’s journey began when she was pursuing her Bachelor’s degree. After some time in the industry, she then pursued a Master’s degree in Communication Management, where she explored intercultural adaptation of Malaysian students who went to Asian countries for mobility programmes. Her quest for knowledge and deeper understanding of culture and communication led her to complete her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Communication at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. Her PhD research has shed some light in understanding the acculturation and integration of a vulnerable and marginalized community in Malaysia, the Rohingyas. Outside of her professional life, Dr. Balqis enjoys travelling and immersing herself in various cultures. She believes that experiencing cultures is essential for understanding and appreciating global diversity. Her personal experiences and cultural explorations continue to inspire her and fuel her dedication to bridging cultural divides.
