Thai Students Embrace Traditional Chinese Medicine in XMUM Exchange

Spanning from 27 March to 21 July 2023, a total of 23 students from Mae Fah Luang University (MFU, Thailand) participated in a four-month exchange program under the School of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM), immersing themselves in a new culture and enriching their academic understanding through effective training.
During the semester, the students were engaged with five major TCM courses including Rehabilitation Science, Internal Medicine, Tuina Therapy, Otolaryngology and Orthopaedics and Traumatology, learning from the experts from School of TCM. The experience was further enhanced via clinical rotations held at XMUM TCM Centre, facing patients directly to improve care outcomes.
The impact of this exchange programme extended beyond the classroom. Day trip to Malacca and workshops ie. Scrapping therapy and Wellness tea ceremony were organized, encouraging interaction between students from both universities.
"Hope the knowledge gained from XMUM will support them in academic and future career,” said Prof. Qian Linchao, the Dean of the School of TCM, in the closing ceremony. The program concluded with a sense of accomplishment, and the School of TCM looks forward to future academic and cultural exchange opportunities.
