The School of Traditional Chinese Medicine (STCM) held its 10th White Coat Ceremony on 27 June 2026 at Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM), marking an important milestone for Year 4 Bachelor of Medicine in Traditional Chinese Medicine students from the 2022/09 intake as they prepare for clinical placements in China.

The ceremony signified the students' transition from theoretical learning to supervised clinical practice. Under XMUM's integrated training model, the students will complete their fifth year at Xiamen University's affiliated hospitals and partner teaching hospitals in China, where they will further develop their clinical skills in TCM diagnosis and treatment.

The ceremony was attended by Tan Sri Ong Ka Ting, former Malaysian Prime Minister's Special Envoy to China and Visiting Professor of the Nanyang Research Institute of Xiamen University; Prof. Dr. Chin Kin Fah, Chairman and Founding Director of the Academy for Silent Mentor; Prof. Dr. Wang Ruifang, President of XMUM; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zhang Ying, Vice President of XMUM; STCM faculty members; students and their families.

In their remarks, Prof. Dr. Wang Ruifang congratulated the students and encouraged them to uphold compassion, professional excellence, and responsibility in healthcare. Tan Sri Ong Ka Ting highlighted STCM’s progress in education, research, international collaboration, and clinical training, while Prof. Dr. Chen Shaodong, Dean of STCM, reminded students that the white coat represents both professional honour and responsibility. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zhang noted that the White Coat Ceremony has become an important STCM tradition over the past decade, reflecting XMUM's commitment to developing competent and compassionate TCM practitioners through Malaysia-China educational collaboration.

During the ceremony, distinguished guests and faculty members presented white coats to the students, who later recited the professional oath, reaffirming their commitment to ethical practice, continuous learning, and compassionate patient care.
