School of Traditional Chinese Medicine Provides Medical Services at Community Event

Published on October 10, 2024

On 5 October 2024, the School of Traditional Chinese Medicine (STCM) at Xiamen University Malaysia participated in a medical voluntary service during the Semarak Bahasa Kebangsaan event, held at Kampung Baru Tanah Merah Site A, Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan.

The service was led by Prof. Chen Shaodong, Dean of STCM, and Dr. Kim Yun Jin, Head of Programme, and supported by faculty members Dr. Wang Yujie, Dr. Lim Chee Hoong, Dr. Muhammad Shahzad Aslam, along with 20 TCM undergraduate students. Together, they provided a range of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) services, including consultations, treatments, and health advice to the local community.

Students were deeply involved in every aspect of the service, taking on key roles in organizing the event and delivering healthcare services. Their active participation in both planning and execution allowed them to apply their TCM knowledge in a practical setting, engaging directly with community members through consultations, treatments, and health education.

The activity was part of the university’s ongoing efforts to engage in public health initiatives. Faculty and students worked together in delivering healthcare services during the event, which also featured cultural elements, as part of the broader community engagement strategy of the School.
