The PhD in New Energy Science and Engineering programme offered by School of Energy and Chemical Engineering has been granted Full Accreditation (FA) by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA), making it the first PhD programme at XMUM to receive Full Accreditation.

The accreditation was endorsed at the MQA Accreditation Committee Meeting held on 29 April 2026. 

The programme was initiated in 2019 and approved by MQA and Malaysia's Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) in 2020. Its first cohort of postgraduate students commenced their studies in August 2022.

The Full Accreditation follows an MQA Programme Assessment Visit conducted from 31 March to 1 April 2026, during which the assessment panel reviewed the programme's curriculum, postgraduate supervision, research environment, academic governance, facilities, and quality assurance system.
