12 XMUM students won multiple awards at the Institution of Chemical Engineers Student Chapters Malaysia Competition & Convention (ICMCC 2022), which was held from 8 to 28 May 2022.

With the theme of “Expanding the Horizon of Chemical Engineers Competencies”, ICMCC 2022 was composed of a series of talks, workshops, forums and competitions, including 5 Minutes Tech Splash and Innovation & Invention Competition.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tan Khang Wei from XMUM School of Energy and Chemical Engineering served as the moderator for two forums on 28 May, i.e., “Unraveling Career Potentials of Chemical Engineering” and “Digitalizing Chemical Engineering: The Power of IR4.0”.

Jocelyn Lim Jean Yi and Chew Zhi Ling, both from XMUM Chemical Engineering Programme, won the Gold Award and the Silver Award of 5 Minutes Tech Splash, respectively. Jocelyn was supervised by Dr. Yee Kian Fei and Dr. Tan Khang Wei, while Zhi Ling was under the supervision of Dr. Kua Yin Leng.

Furthermore, two groups of XMUM students won the Silver Award and the Bronze Award in Innovation & Invention Competition for their projects.

ICMCC 2022 was hosted by the IChemE Student Chapter (IChemE-SC) of Universiti Teknologi Mara, with the IChemE-SC of Xiamen University Malaysia as one of its co-organizers. The event aims to promote technical knowledge and exposure to the chemical engineering industries, develop the professional competencies of IChemE Student Chapters committee members, while providing a platform for universities, Student Chapters and industry players to network and collaborate with each other.
