The School of Computing and Data Science (SCDS) at Xiamen University Malaysia congratulates Renee Chin Wei Wen and her final year project (FYP) supervisor, Dr. Ahmad Affandi Supli, on winning Second Runner-Up at the Malaysia Creative Tech Competition 2026.
Their project, EcoWorld, distinguished itself among 87 submissions from 23 institutions nationwide, marking an outstanding achievement that brings pride to the School and the University.

Organized by TechVerse Production, MyVerse 2026 is a national innovation competition that invites Malaysian undergraduate and postgraduate students to develop metaverse and interactive digital solutions based on the theme "Malaysia 2050". The competition aims to cultivate forward-thinking innovation, while offering participants valuable industry exposure, mentorship, and recognition in the field of immersive technology.
EcoWorld is an innovative Mixed Reality (MR) serious game developed to enhance ecological literacy through immersive and interactive environmental experiences. Addressing the growing decline of global ecosystems and the limitations of traditional environmental education, the project enables users to engage with realistic ecological challenges in a more meaningful and impactful manner.
By combining immersive MR technology with authentic environmental scenarios, EcoWorld aims to strengthen environmental awareness, deepen ecological understanding, and encourage positive behavioural changes among users. The project demonstrates the potential of mixed reality as a powerful educational tool in bridging the gap between knowledge and action, while fostering a stronger connection between individuals and the natural world.
