Two papers from School of Computing and Data Science, Xiamen University Malaysia were accepted by 8th International Conference on Software Engineering & Computer Systems 2023 (IEEE ICSECS 2023), an academic conference organized by IEEE Industry Applications Society during 25-27 August 2023.

Both papers were conducted under the supervision of Dr. Burra Venkata Durga Kumar.

Wu You, a final-year student from Software Engineering Programme, described the event as “an incredibly enriching experience”: “The platform not only allowed me to showcase my latest research through paper writing but also offered unparalleled networking opportunities with fellow researchers and experts in the field of Software Engineering and Computer Systems.”

Paper Title: Emotional Analysis Based On LSTM-CNN Hybrid Neural Network Model

This research synthesizes the strengths of the Bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory (Bi-LSTM) and the Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) models of neural networks, combining the two models into LSTM-CNN hybrid model - the LSTM-generated text feature vector is then extracted using the CNN structure.

Paper Title: A Comprehensive Approach to Mitigate Return-Oriented Programming Attacks: Combining Operating System Protection Mechanisms and Hardware-Assisted Techniques
