XMUM Scores Top Awards at Inaugural CSR & SDG Competition

Two teams of students from School of Communication, Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM) triumphed at Malaysia’s first Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Idea Pitching Competition, under the theme "RE: ACT". 

Organized by the Institute of Public Relations Student Association - XMUM (IPRMSA-XMUM) in collaboration with the Institute of Public Relations Malaysia (IPRM), the competition was held on 3 December 2025 at the Tan Hua Choon Auditorium, XMUM, with 14 groups from 9 universities participating. 

The event was officiated by Mr. Jaffri Amin Osman, the President of IPRM, and attended by IPRM Council Members, IPRM Advisors, and students from universities nationwide. 

Prof. Dr. Wang Changsong, Dean of XMUM's School of Communication, highlighted the transformative potential of the event in his opening speech. 

"This competition empowers students to transform CSR and SDG-aligned concepts into feasible projects. By bridging academic learning with real-world impact, it invites students to present innovative, actionable ideas that address pressing social and sustainability challenges."

Prof. Dr. Wang Handling Souvenir to Mr. Jaffri

A group of students from the Journalism programme: Suo Yihan, Tan Shuyue, Wong Chi Yi, Zhang Ruixuan, won the 1st Prize in Category A with their project "The Clothes Reborn Programme: Building a Micro-circular System", under the supervision of Associate Prof. Dr. Ahadzadeh Ashrafsadat. 

Another group of students from the Communication programme: Chee See Kyi, Eugenia Nicole Wu, Lim Zhi En, Joyce Renata Bagenda, Tasha Chin Ai Jia, Yeen Ying Jia, Yong Kai Xuan, secured the 2nd Prize in the same category with their project "My Kampung, My Journey", under the coaching of Dr. Muhammad Nur Fitri Razak, Dr. Andi Muhammad Tri Sakti, and Ms. Sivasangari. 

Participants also attended a workshop led by Mr. Jaffri Amin Osman, gaining industry insights on effective CSR and SDG implementation. The event featured a charity booth in collaboration with Lovely Disabled Home, allowing attendees to contribute to social causes while learning about the organisation's initiatives.
