Research Management Center congratulates Associate Professor Ir. Ts. Dr. Wong Shen Yuong, Ye Xiaofeng and Guo Fengkai from Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE), XMUM School of Electrical and Computer Engineering for their publication in Applied Soft Computing, an SCI Tier-1 journal with an impact factor of 6.725.

Ye Xiaofeng and Guo Fengkai are EEE students under the supervision of Dr. Wong Shen Yuong, the first and corresponding author of this paper. They have recently graduated from XMUM in September this year. Ye Xiaofeng is now pursuing his master’s degree Xiamen University China, while Guo Fengkai is planning to further his postgraduate study soon.

Entitled “Computational intelligence for preventive maintenance of power transformers”, the paper discusses various computational intelligence techniques for fault detection and diagnosis pertaining to preventive maintenance of power transformers. Network failures are expensive, resulting in both economic and resource losses. Adding to this challenge is the extremely dynamic nature of energy systems, which are often built on large, long-lived physical infrastructure and assets. Therefore, it is necessary to impose some asset management strategies to ensure their stable and reliable operation. Furthermore, to increase the convenience and efficiency of monitoring and maintenance work, attentions have been paid to some technical innovations of Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR 4.0) for the asset management of power transformers.

Associate Professor Ir. Ts. Dr. Wong Shen Yuong is with the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE), Xiamen University Malaysia. She is a Professional Engineer (PEng/Ir) in Electrical Engineering registered to the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM), a registered ASEAN Chartered Professional Engineer (ACPE), a Professional Technologist (Ts) registered to the Malaysia Board of Technologists, a Senior Member of The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineer (IEEE), Corporate Member of Institutions of Engineers Malaysia (IEM), and Accreditation Panel of Engineering Accreditation Council (EAC). She also serves as an editorial board member for several journals. Her research interests include Computational Intelligence, fuzzy system, machine learning, electrical power system faults detection and diagnosis, computer vision, robotic and Internet of Things.
