IEEE XMUM Hosts IBM Z Connection Day
On 15 May 2026, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) XMUM Student Branch successfully organized the IBM Z Career Connection Day. The event brought together students from the Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Computer Science and Technology, Data Science, and Cybersecurity programmes to gain exposure to enterprise computing technologies, IBM Z systems, and career opportunities within the technology industry.
The event featured speakers from IBM Australia and IBM Malaysia, including Adam LG Ring, Ts. Khairul Nizam bin Abd Razak and Md Iskandar Abu Bakar, who shared industry insights and professional experience in enterprise computing infrastructure and IBM Z technologies. In the sessions, participants learned about the fundamentals of enterprise computing, the evolution and significance of integrated chip technologies, and the role of IBM Z systems in supporting modern digital infrastructure and large-scale computing operations.

A key highlight of the programme was the interactive sharing session, where students had the opportunity to engage directly with the speaker through discussions and Q&A sessions. Participants explored topics related to career pathways, technological advancements, and real-world industrial applications of enterprise systems. The networking session further allowed students to connect with industry professionals and gain a better understanding of current market demands and opportunities in the technology sector.

In addition, students were also introduced to the IBM Z Xplore Learning Platform through a hands-on workshop conducted by Lim Li Chuin, allowing participants to explore practical learning resources and gain initial exposure to IBM Z systems.
