Two XMUM Faculty Members Receive Private Education Excellence Awards 2019
Research Management Center congratulates Prof. Huang Nay Ming and Assoc. Prof. Ong Wee Jun from School of Energy and Chemical Engineering on receiving Private Education Excellence Awards from Private Education Cooperative of Malaysia (Educoop). Prof. Huang Nay Ming and Assoc. Prof. Ong Wee Jun were awarded the National Outstanding Researcher Award (Material Science) and National Outstanding Reviewer Award (Nanotechnology), respectively.
XMUM Champions the Green Technovation Challenge 2019
The Green Technovation Challenge 2019 held on 18 September saw a team of XMUM School of Energy and Chemical Engineering students raised as the champion. Comprised of 5 students from New Energy Science and Technology Programme (Douglas Yeo Jing Zhi, Hoy Zheng Xuan, Lim Jin Yang, Phuang Zhen Lim and Tan Khai Yang), the team named TITAN defeated 13 teams from 8 other universities and won the 1st prize in the challenge.They received a prize of RM5,000 while UKM and Quest University achieved 2nd and 3rd place respectively.
Dr. Ng Kim Hoong and XMUM Students Publish in SCI Tier-1 Journal
Research Management Center congratulates Dr. Ng Kim Hoong from School of Energy and Chemical Engineering for publishing the review article entitled TiO2 and ZnO photocatalytic treatment of palm oil mill effluent (POME) and feasibility of renewable energy generation: A short review on 7 June 2019 in the SCI Tier 1 journal - Journal of Cleaner Production. This journal has an Impact Factor of 6.395 and ranked 18/250 in the category “Environmental Sciences” according to Journal Citation Report 2018. The review was the collaborative efforts of Dr.
3 XMUM Faculty Members Receive 2019 MOE Research Fund
Research Management Centre congratulates Dr. Ng Kim Hoong from School of Chemical Engineering, Dr. Kelvin Ooi Jian Aun from School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering and Dr. Teoh Hong Wooi from China-ASEAN College of Marine Sciences on receiving the Fundamental Research Grant Scheme (FRGS) 2019, awarded by the Ministry of Education (MOE) Malaysia. They are the second batch of successful FRGS applications submitted by Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM) with a total allocated amount of RM 350,789.00.
Chemical Engineering Student Wins Second Prize in 14th “Challenge Cup” Competition of Fujian Province
Under the instruction of Dr. Ong Wee Jun, second-year chemical engineering student Ren Yijie won the second prize for his project, Research of Heterojunction Interfaces in Graphitic Carbon Nitride (g-C3N4)-based Metal Sulfide Photocatalysts for Energy Conversion in the 14th Challenge Cup “University Students’ Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Works Competition of Fujian Province”.
