Victoria University of Wellington (New Zealand) signs MOU with XMUM

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand (VUW) and Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM) in July 2018. Students completing their degree at XMUM can now add VUW to their list of potential destinations for postgraduate studies. 

VUW was established in 1897, the year Queen Victoria celebrated her Diamond Jubilee. As one of New Zealand’s oldest and most prestigious tertiary institutions, VUW is ranked 221th in the world by QS ranking 2019 and ranked 1st in New Zealand for its research strength. It also received five stars from QS Stars University Rating in each of the eight categories, i.e. arts and culture, discipline ranking and accreditations, employability, facilities, inclusiveness, internationalisation, research and teaching. Located in Wellington, deemed to be the coolest little capital in the world by Lonely Planet, VUW has strong links with government departments and agencies, international agencies, industries, regional and local government, environmental organisations, as well as some of New Zealand’s major research institutes.

At VUW, students can select from a number of postgraduate majors, ranging from Business, Engineering, Humanities & Social Sciences, to Science. For each of the programme, student has the option to study the programme by coursework or by research. In terms of scholarships, students will be awarded according to their accomplishment. 

The International Affairs Office of XMUM is exploring various kinds of partnership opportunities with VUW, including research collaboration, to benefit XMUM students and faculty members.
