Over 900 new students joined Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM)’s September 2019 intake. With their arrival, the total enrollment of the university exceeds 5,000.

An orientation themed “Lights” was held on 21 and 22 September 2019 to help prepare the new students for the coming semester. Students attended briefings of respective academic programmes and relevant administrative departments, as well as played games and had fun under the guidance of student facilitators.
The highlight of the Orientation is the Gala Night, featuring amazing performances of several student clubs and societies. The performance was conducted on the brand new Music Island and was met with an enthusiastic reception from students and parents.

It also worth mentioning that in this semester XMUM launches its Master of Arts in Chinese Studies programme, the first academic-oriented postgraduate programme offered by the university. 

Currently, XMUM has a student enrolment of over 5,000 from 28 countries and regions, such as Malaysia, China, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Egypt, Zambia, Korea, Japan, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. More than 300 students come from countries other than Malaysia and China.
