XMUM President Prof. Wang Ruifang expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Chinese Embassy and H.E. Ouyang Yujing for providing continued support to the university. During his speech, he gladly reported the latest progress of XMUM. Currently, more than 6,800 students from 38 countries are studying with XMUM. 22 undergraduate programmes, 9 masters and 5 PhD programmes are being offered. XMUM faulty members and students have won multiple research awards and have published more than 1,330 papers in SCI journals, including 189 papers authored by XMUM undergraduates. 79 publications were selected as Top 1% Highly Cited Papers globally. Prof. Wang reiterated XMUM’s commitment to build a multi-cultural campus and to attract outstanding students from diverse cultural backgrounds with generous scholarship offer.

The Chinese Ambassador Scholarship was set up by the Embassy of China in Malaysia in 2016 to facilitate cultural communication and friendship between Malaysia and China and to encourage outstanding Malaysian students to pursue their study at XMUM. The recipients not only need to possess outstanding academic records, but also need to demonstrate active participation in social activities, especially activities that help to promote the friendship and goodwill between the peoples of the two countries. For the academic year of 2021-2022, after a stringent selection process, 30 students from 17 XMUM bachelor’s degree programmes have been chosen to receive this honour.
