"Bringing Consular Protection to Campus" Event Held at XMUM
On 10 April, the first "Bringing Consular Protection to Campus" event of 2026, organized by the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Malaysia, was held at Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM).
The event was hosted by the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia, organized by XMUM, and supported by the China Students Association Malaysia. More than 400 Chinese students from XMUM, the University of Malaya, Universiti Putra Malaysia and other institutions attended the session.
In the welcome remarks, XMUM President Prof. Wang Ruifang emphasized that the University places great importance on students' safety and well-being. He noted that XMUM will continue to strengthen cooperation with the Chinese Embassy and relevant local authorities to provide a safe and supportive learning environment for students.
Zheng Xuefang, Minister of the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia, highlighted that with the growing exchanges between the two countries, Chinese students play an important role in promoting people-to-people connectivity. He added that the Embassy will continue to carry out outreach programs such as "Bringing Consular Protection to Campus" to enhance students' safety awareness and risk prevention capabilities.
During the event, representatives from the Embassy, Malaysian police, financial institutions, and legal organizations delivered talks on consular protection, scam prevention, basic legal knowledge, and mental health. Real-life cases were vividly shared to help students better understand potential risks and appropriate responses.
The event aims to strengthen students' awareness of personal safety and equip them with practical knowledge to handle emergencies during their studies in Malaysia.
