Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tan Jian Ping Named Secretary of ARPOS
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tan Jian Ping, Director of the Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Technologies for Agricultural Advancement and a Zero-Waste Economy (STARGAZE) at Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM), has been elected Secretary of the Malaysian Academic Research on Palm Oil Sustainability (ARPOS) for the 2025–2027 term.
The election took place during the ARPOS Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at Akademia Siber Teknopolis (AST), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) on 19 June 2025.

Dr. Tan Jian Ping previously served as an ARPOS committee member from 2022 to 2025. He noted that in his new role, he aims to support the coordination of academic input on sustainability initiatives and contribute to strengthening the link between research and policy in the palm oil sector.
ARPOS, registered under the Registrar of Societies (ROS), is Malaysia's sole academic consortium focused on promoting sustainability in the palm oil industry. It was established in 2014 by the UTM Palm Oil Research Centre and the Institute of Climate Change, UKM, with the goal of fostering inter-university collaboration and advancing multidisciplinary research addressing both environmental and socio-economic dimensions of palm oil production.
Dr. Tan Jian Ping's appointment also aligns with XMUM's institutional research directions in sustainability and agriculture. The university is engaged in topics such as agrowaste utilisation and bio-based innovation, which contribute to national academic discussions on food systems and environmental issues.
