In order to broaden students’ vision and get them to experience the cultural customs of the major religious festival of Eid al-Fitr, XMUM Student Union’s Ministry of Culture organized an Eid celebration on 27 June 2018. 

Before the event, members of the organizing committee decorated the hall of Student Activity Center to make the participating students feel the festive atmosphere and enjoy different types of culture. During the celebration, Ministry of Culture provides free traditional Eid al-Fitr food for everyone to taste, including Lemang & Chicken Rendang, Ketupat & Kuah Kacang, and Onde-onde. Various games are organized at the same time, including shooting darts and stick nose. Students who won the games received vouchers for special food. In addition, the Chinese Orchestra Club was invited to give an excellent performance and three round sweepstakes were held during the celebration.

The event was well received, and the students enthusiastically participated in it. For students who are experiencing cultural shock while trying to integrate into a foreign country, this celebration help them understand and respect the local culture and adapt in a positive way. This wonderful night, XMUM students enjoyed the celebration of Eid al-Fitr and acquired a deeper understanding of Malaysia’s rich cultures.
