Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM) held its first official alumni gathering on 28 September 2019, the same day of its Inaugural Convocation Ceremony. 

It marked the launch of its Student Alumni Office, which was officially established after the pioneer cohort graduated from XMUM.

30 graduates were chosen as Alumni Ambassador and each of them was presented with an Appointment Certificate. Mr. Wu Hanyang from the class of 2019, who previously majored in Journalism Programme, shared his journey at Xiamen University Malaysia and his vision towards serving as XMUM Alumni Ambassador.

Mr. Yao Ming, President of XMU Xiamen Alumni Association, then shared his experience as an XMU alumnus.

The highlight of the event is an inspiring speech by Prof. Zhu Chongshi, former president of XMU and President of XMU General Alumni Association. Prof. Zhu offered to the XMUM Alumni Ambassadors many insightful advices he has accumulated over the years.

Both Mr Yao Ming and Prof Zhu travelled all the way from China to witness the first gathering of XMUM alumni.

The ceremony ended with the closing remarks by Prof. Wang Ruifang, President of XMUM. He expressed his congratulations and joy over the Student Alumni Office’s establishment, as well as offered his best wishes that the Office would serve and steer the graduands of XMUM.
