XMUM Chinese Studies Students Head to XMU for Study Tour

41 staff and student representatives from the Chinese Studies Programme of Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM) took a one-week study tour to Xiamen University China (XMU) during the April semester break.

With the purpose of facilitating bonds between XMUM Chinese Studies Programme and XMU College of Humanities, this tour gave XMUM students an opportunity to have a taste of Chinese culture and gain a better understanding of the study options provided by Xiamen University.

After arriving at XMU, the students paid tribute to Mr. Tan Kah Kee, the founder of Xiamen University. Accompanied by volunteers from XMU College of Humanities, they learnt about the history and current development of Xiamen University by touring around the campus and visiting the Gallery of XMU History.

In the following days, they not only attended classes together with XMU students, but also participated in the celebration of XMU’s 98th Anniversary, including watching a special performance of Goldbach's Conjecture, a stage play written in memory of mathematician Chen Jingrun, a late alumnus and faculty member of Xiamen University.

XMU College of Humanities also held a special talk on the postgraduate opportunities for XMUM students. Two final year students from XMUM Chinese Studies Programme has already been recommenced to pursue their master’s degree at XMU.
