Executive - Student Affairs Office (Extra Curricular Activities)
The Executive – Extra Curricular Activities is responsible for the development and execution of extra-curricular and engagement initiatives related to arts, culture, performing arts, and creative student expression. The role also includes managing content for social media platforms related to extracurricular promotion, student talent showcase, and cultural activities.
Role and Key Responsibilities
Arts, Culture & Performing Arts Engagement
- Support and oversee student clubs and societies related to arts, culture, and performing arts (e.g., music, dance, theatre, fine arts, cultural societies).
- Coordinate workshops, showcases, cultural nights, and competitions to promote student creativity and cultural appreciation.
- Serve as the liaison between the university and external cultural organisations or partners.
- Encourage student participation in regional and national cultural events and competitions.
Social Media Content and Promotion
- Plan and manage content creation (photos, videos, captions) to promote extra-curricular activities and student talents on social media.
- Collaborate with clubs and societies to produce engaging content for recruitment and activity promotion.
- Work with the various Office (where applicable) to maintain alignment with university branding.
- Monitor engagement metrics and improve outreach strategies.
Student Leadership and Talent Development
- Mentor student leaders in clubs and societies to build leadership capacity and event management skills.
- Facilitate leadership training, networking opportunities, and recognition platforms for student contributors.
- Provide guidance in club operations, budgeting, and sustainable program planning.
Administrative and Reporting Duties
- Maintain updated documentation and records of club reports, attendance, budgets, and approvals.
- Prepare periodic reports and presentations on student engagement impact, especially in arts and culture.
- Assist in university-wide events, especially those involving cultural or artistic performances (e.g., Orientation Gala, University Anniversary, Cultural Carnival).
Requirements / Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in arts management, Communication, Cultural Studies, Performing Arts, or related fields.
- At least 1–2 years of experience in student affairs, arts programming, or youth engagement preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, planning, and cross-cultural communication skills.
- Experience in event planning, stage production or digital media promotion is an added advantage.
- Proficient in English, with knowledge of Chinese or Malay preferred.
- Familiarity with photo/video editing tools and social media platforms.
- Creative, energetic, and passionate about student development.
- Enjoys working with youth and diverse talents.
- Able to multitask, meet deadlines, and collaborate across departments.
- Strong eye for aesthetics, design, and storytelling.
