Engineer / Assistant Engineer - IT Office (Network Services Level 1)
Role and Key Responsibilities
- Attending to IT queries and providing technical support for classrooms, offices, computer labs, and campus facilities. (Regular classroom inspection and preventive maintenance)
- Providing Level 1 support for campus network and connectivity issues, including wired, wireless, VPN, internet access, and basic switch/AP troubleshooting.
- Supporting campus applications and learning platforms such as Moodle, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and related digital learning services.
- Performing computer hardware, software, printer, and application troubleshooting.
- Supporting computer lab maintenance, software deployment, and endpoint configuration.
- Supporting VOI/VDI environments, classroom central control systems, and multimedia-related platforms.
- Handling teaching and multimedia equipment such as wireless microphones, projectors, visualizers, iPads, converters, pointers, TVs, and related A/V devices.
- Supporting basic network infrastructure maintenance including switches, wireless access points (AP), IP configuration, and connectivity verification.
- Assisting in monitoring and troubleshooting campus IT systems, services, and infrastructure alerts.
- Preparing user guides, technical documentation, checklists, asset records, and procurement documentation.
- Supporting University events such as Open Day, orientation, conferences, student recruitment activities, and special campus events.
- Managing and troubleshooting E-Card systems and related terminal devices including door access systems and CCTV.
- Responding to IT support requests via IT helpdesk, AskA, email, phone calls, and walk-in support.
- Assisting in IT asset setup, inventory tracking, equipment replacement planning, and lifecycle management.
- Learning and adopting new technologies, automation tools, AI solutions, and digital transformation initiatives as required.
- Performing ad hoc IT operational and technical duties assigned by the department.
Requirements / Qualifications
- Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications, or equivalent.
- Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply. Candidates with 1–3 years of hands-on experience in IT support, network support, system administration, cloud services, or infrastructure troubleshooting will have an added advantage.
- Basic understanding of computer networks, TCP/IP, WiFi, switches, wireless access points, VPN, and internet troubleshooting.
- Basic knowledge of Windows, macOS, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, endpoint configuration, and user account administration.
- Knowledge of server environments, NAS/storage systems, virtualization, backup systems, or cloud platforms will be an advantage.
- Familiarity with automation, scripting, or AI-assisted IT operations is an added advantage.
- Basic scripting or automation knowledge such as PowerShell, Python, Bash, or related scripting tools is preferred.
- Familiarity with IT monitoring, remote support tools, and helpdesk systems is an advantage.
- Good problem-solving skills, communication skills, and willingness to learn new technologies.
- Able to work independently as well as in a team environment.
Willing to support events or urgent IT operations when required.
