Role and Key Responsibilities

• Provide academic leadership and direction to the Department of Chinese Studies.
• Provide support to the faculty members to achieve the aims and learning outcomes for the department.
• Ensure the programme(s) adheres to the University's teaching and learning strategy and associated policies, practices and processes are implemented.
• Ensure the programme(s) comply with auditing, quality assurance and risk management procedures both internal and external.
• Act as point of contact and ensure effective liaison with other departments for all matters relating to the delivery of the programme(s).
• Support for continuing professional development of staff.
• Maintain relationships with external bodies, alumni and industry as appropriate.

Requirements / Qualifications

• A PhD in Chinese Studies or a related field.
• Proven track record of excellence in teaching, research, and academic leadership.
• Substantial experience in academic administration and strategic planning.
• Strong publication record in reputable journals and evidence of impactful research.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to foster an inclusive and collaborative academic environment.
• A global perspective and understanding of the evolving landscape of Chinese Studies.
