Role and Key Responsibilities
- Provide academic leadership and direction to the Department of Chinese Studies.
- Provide support to the faculty members to achieve the aims and learning outcomes for the department.
- Ensure the programme(s) adheres to the University's teaching and learning strategy and associated policies, practices and processes are implemented.
- Ensure the programme(s) comply with auditing, quality assurance and risk management procedures both internal and external.
- Act as point of contact and ensure effective liaison with other departments for all matters relating to the delivery of the programme(s).
- Support for continuing professional development of staff.
- Maintain relationships with external bodies, alumni and industry as appropriate.
Requirements / Qualifications
- A PhD in Chinese Studies or a related field.
- Proven track record of excellence in teaching, research, and academic leadership.
- Substantial experience in academic administration and strategic planning.
- Strong publication record in reputable journals and evidence of impactful research.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to foster an inclusive and collaborative academic environment.
- A global perspective and understanding of the evolving landscape of Chinese Studies.
