The largest school at XMUM, the School of Economics and Management (SEM), established the SEM Student Council (SEMSC) in May 2025. Assist. Prof. Dr. Tan Khar Mang and Assist. Prof. Dr. Liu Lingzi serve as the advisors to the SEMSC 2025.
According to the Articles of Association, the establishment of SEMSC is guided by three core visions, represented by three key values: harmony, improvement, and positivity. First, to promote a harmonious relationship throughout the school with the spirit of university and school. Second, to improve relationships between the students of different batches and lecturers within the school community. Third, to cultivate a positive learning and growing environment throughout the school.
The SEMSC is composed of 34 undergraduate students from various program backgrounds, including Accounting, Finance, International Business, and E-commerce. SEMSC is a student-run association that primarily aims to enrich students’ academic and non-academic experiences during university life and serve as the voice of undergraduate students. The Election Committee of SEMSC consists of 9 undergraduate students, while the Supervisory Committee comprises 4 undergraduate students.
The Annual General Meeting 2025 was held by SEMSC 2025 at Lecture Theatre B1#114 on 11 June 2025, under the guidance of Dr. Tan Khar Mang and Dr. Liu Lingzi. The meeting began with an inspiring opening address by Dr. Yang Junjie (Assistant Dean of SEM). Through an internal voting session involving the council members, the Executive Team of SEMSC 2025 was elected as follows: Muayad Gamil Abduljalil Saif (president), How Zhen Kee (vice-president), Feng Xinyi (vice-president) and Ng Vicky (vice-president). The Executive Team leads the remaining council members across six divisions: Administration, Organizational, Social, Public Relations, Academic, and Marketing (as illustrated in the organizational structure below).
