On November 1, 2024, 21 Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) interns from School of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Xiamen University Malaysia visited the Human Life Sciences Pavilion at Xiang'an Hospital, affiliated with Xiamen University. The tour, organized by the hospital’s Department of Science and Education, offered the students a unique educational experience, deepening their understanding of human anatomy through the use of advanced life sciences technology.
The Life Sciences Pavilion is divided into two main sections. The first section, titled “The Birth of Life,” features real human specimens and anatomical models demonstrating muscle movement. These exhibits provided the interns with an up-close look at the human body’s fundamental structures and complex muscle coordination, enriching their theoretical studies and enhancing their comprehension of anatomy.
The second section highlights the latest advancements in life sciences technology, including Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR) emergency training, and 3D anatomical organ displays. These interactive technologies allowed the TCM interns to directly engage with cutting-edge tools that are transforming the medical field.
After the tour, the interns participated in a discussion session led by staff from the hospital’s Department of Science and Education. During the session, the hospital representatives thoroughly answered students' questions and shared insights into the latest developments in life sciences. This engagement provided the interns with valuable guidance and a deeper appreciation for the integration of technology in medicine.
The visit was a valuable addition to the students’ educational experience, providing them with practical insights that will be beneficial for their future studies and medical practice. As life sciences technology continues to evolve, this experience has further inspired the interns to pursue their careers in medicine with renewed dedication.
