Australian National University Delegation Visits XMUM

2025-10-09

On 7 October 2025, a delegation from the Australian National University (ANU) visited Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM), delivering an academic lecture and sharing recruitment information with faculty and students.

Founded in 1946, ANU is a research-focused public university in Canberra and the only national university in Australia established by federal legislation. It ranks among Australia's leading universities and was placed 30th globally in the 2025 QS World University Rankings.

The event began with a lecture by Dr. Gaurav Khemka, Associate Professor at ANU's Research School of Finance, Actuarial Studies and Statistics. In the presentation themed "Risk and Insurance", he combined actuarial science theories with real-world industry examples, explained the role of risk management in modern financial systems, with practical illustrations to help students connect theory with practice. Students were encouraged to ask questions and engage with the material, given insights into current trends and applications in the field.

Following the lecture, Ms. Hanoem Wijaya, ANU's International Student Recruitment and Partnerships Coordinator, shared information about the university’s admissions policies and procedures. She outlined program requirements, academic performance expectations and language proficiency standards, then answered questions from students about application processes and opportunities.

Since 2018, XMUM has maintained a partnership with ANU. Students applying for ANU's Master of International Management program may access dedicated quotas and, for most programmes, exemptions from English language requirements, which provides XMUM graduates with additional pathways for pursuing further studies abroad.

XMUM continues to develop international partnerships to provide students with opportunities for global exposure. The University closely collaborates with more than 20 universities worldwide, including ANU, the University of Birmingham, the University of Auckland, Queen Mary University of London, Cardiff University, Victoria University of Wellington, and Duke Kunshan University, offering students additional pathways for further study.
