Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM) welcomed 40 students and 2 teachers from SMK Dato Bentara Dalam, Segamat, Johor on 17 September 2025, for an educational campus tour aimed at introducing them to the university's academic environment.
A key highlight of the visit was a hands-on workshop organized by the School of Traditional Chinese Medicine (STCM) in collaboration with the Student Recruitment Office. Unlike conventional lecture-style sessions, this workshop focused on basic auricular acupoint knowledge and an introduction to chrysanthemum tea, both selected for their simplicity, accessibility, and real-life application. The hands-on nature of the workshop allowed students to explore TCM techniques that could be applied in daily life, particularly in managing common physical discomforts.
Led by the Head of Programme, Dr. Chep Lee Lu Siang, the school admin, Ms. Kho Jia Jia, and two student helpers - Ng Jing An and Chan Han Tieng, the workshop began with an introduction to the School of TCM and a student-led presentation on auricular acupoints. This not only introduced TCM concepts but also demonstrated XMUM's teaching approach, where students gain both knowledge and the confidence to share it.
Participants then took part in a demonstration on using auricular acupoint patches, followed by a brief session on the benefits of chrysanthemum tea, with tea bags distributed as a small token.
