From 24 August to 29 October 2024, the School of Economics and Management (SEM) at Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM) successfully conducted a TVET Training Program on E-commerce and Digitalization, aimed at equipping young Malaysians with critical skills for the future economy.
The program was launched in celebration of 50 years of Malaysia-China diplomatic relations, organized by the Malaysia-China Friendship Association and the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation, with sponsorship from COSCO Shipping Charity Foundation. It also received strong support from the Malaysian Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia.
The training combined virtual and in-person sessions, including company visits to industry leaders such as Alibaba's Cainiao, Malaysia Airports, Proton, GEM Media, and Biji-Biji Initiative. These visits provided participants with practical insights and hands-on experience in digitalization and e-commerce.
The program concluded with a closing ceremony that celebrated the achievements of the participants. Notable speakers included Mr. Zheng Xuefang, Minister from the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia; Mr. Zulkifly Hj. Zakaria, Vice President of the Malaysia-China Friendship Association; Dr. Zhang Ying, Vice President of XMUM; and Mdm Zakiah binti Md Jali, Deputy Director of Skills at the Ministry of Youth and Sports. Distinguished guests from COSCO Shipping, the Federal Territories Youth Council, and Alibaba also attended the event.

He praised XMUM’s facilities and welcoming environment, and expressed hope that the program would continue to benefit more students in the future.
