Ooi Khim May, a PhD student in Chemical Engineering at Xiamen University Malaysia, has been awarded the prestigious Andrew Legacy Bursary for the year 2024 session.
This bursary allows up to 20 PhD, EngD or MSc students to attend the week-long summer school, “Catalysis: Fundamentals and Practice”, which will be held at the University of Liverpool from 24 to 28 June 2024.
Offered by the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) under the Andrew Legacy Scheme, this bursary aims to support researchers working on projects related to heterogeneous catalysis.
Ooi Khim May with her research project
Ooi Khim May is currently working on the synthesis of heterogeneous catalyst for biofuel production using post-consumer biomass waste products. She is under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Chen Binghui, Asst. Prof. Dr. Yee Kian Fei and Asst. Prof. Dr. Tan Jian Ping. Her project will not only look into the tuning of catalyst properties for better catalyst performance but also on the valorization of waste into value-added products.
