Three disciplines of Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM) ranked among global top 1%, according to the Essential Science Indicators (ESI) ranking released in January 2024.

These disciplines are Clinical Medicine, Neuroscience & Behavior, and Engineering.

This is the first time the Neuroscience & Behavior and Engineering of the University has entered the ranking (in November and December 2023, respectively).  

Meanwhile, 92 research papers published by XMUM scholars have been recognized as ESI Top Papers, among which six (6) were picked as Hot Papers, according to the ESI database updated in January 2024.

Here, “Top Papers” are the top 1% of papers by field and publication year, while “Hot Papers” are the top 0.1% of papers cited in the current bimonthly period.

It is worth pointing out that, 1,471 papers published by XMUM scholars are currently listed in the Web of Science with a total citation of 63,291, ranking 13th among higher education institutes in Malaysia. This contributes 43.03 times per paper on average, ranking 1st among higher education institutes in Malaysia.
