The School of Economics and Management at Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM) was privileged to host Mr. Hau, Tze-Ming, Senior Platform Application Engineer and Technical Lead in Intel’s Network and Edge Group (NEX), who generously shared his insights on Innovation and Technopreneurship on 29^th November 2023.

The topic was Innovation and Technopreneurship. He mentioned that technopreneurship is about merging technological expertise with entrepreneurship skills. This concept empowers startup venture to take a leap of faith and travel this path to greater success, especially in post-pandemic world, where people are looking for tech solutions for everything. “Technological revolution, digital revolution, artificial intelligent revolution are changing the ways we work and live.” 

He shared about the success stories of Taobao Villages in which rural people, especially women, could be benefited, gain wealth and have better lives after participating in e-commerce, “Digital technologies can contribute to inclusive growth in rural China, lower the required skill threshold allowing individuals, including the less educated, to participate in e-commerce and earn more.” The experience in Taobao Villages has sparked strong interest among researchers, policymakers, and the private sector to explore the use of e-commerce as a tool for poverty alleviation and rural vitalization.

He also emphasized that innovation is vital for all organizations, “Innovation is defined as the introduction of something new which creates value for the organization that adopts it. Regardless in which stages of the business, innovation is the key to success

About Mr. Hau, Tze-Ming

Mr. Hau, Tze-Ming is a senior Platform Application Engineer and Technical Lead in Intel’s Network and Edge Group (NEX) group. He joined Intel in 2006 as a BIOS engineer, and has worked in multiple roles spanning from validation, solution architect and customer enabling. Currently his focus is in security and bootloader technology enabling for Intel’s IoT and Edge customers. He graduated from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia with Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (1999).He is a Certified TRIZ L2 Practitioner passionate about innovation. He also has strong interest in financial, and have passed Chartered Financial Analysist (CFA) exam Level 3 (2007).
