BIOGRAPHY

Having stepped into the major of physical oceanography since 1999, I have constant curiosity in exploring various problems on basin-scale ocean dynamics and their implications in a wider background. I personally like to probe those tough problems in my field though they may take longer time and greater efforts and have higher risk of failure, and I did get various failures in my research history. But I believe a good scientist should have such courage to challenge the difficult problems in his own research area and fear no failures. I like to ask questions, no matter good or stupid ones. Questions can effectively stimulate critical thinking, which may breed many new and original research ideas. I deem the critical thinking as the most valued quality to a scientist. Besides doing research of my own interest, I also review articles for several journals, such as Geophysical Research Letters (GRL), Journal of Geophysical Research (JGR), Journal of Climate (JC), Journal of Atmospheric Science (JAS), Geoscience letters, Acta Oceanologica Sinica, etc.
