BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Tan Suh Nih received her BSc in Resource Biotechnology from Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) in 2014, and her PhD from the University of Malaya (UM) in 2019. She continued her research as a postdoctoral research fellow at the Institute of Oceanography and Environment, University Malaysia Terengganu. Dr Tan is currently a lecturer at China-ASEAN College of Marine Sciences, Xiamen University Malaysia. Her research focuses on marine phycology and toxicology, with an emphasis on investigating harmful toxin algae, specifically the Pseudo-nitzschia and Nitzschia species found in Malaysian waters. Her studies encompasass various aspects, including morphology, molecular systematics, evolution and the toxicology of the harmful algae and shellfish molluscs.
RESEARCH INTERESTS
Taxonomy and genetic characterization of harmful algae
Toxin analysis of microalgae and shellfish molluscs (Marine biotoxins)
Population genetics study on harmful algae species
