Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ong Wee Jun from School of Energy and Chemical Engineering, Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM) was named 2022 Most Cited Chinese Researchers by Elsevier, for his exceptional research performance in the field of chemistry.
He entered the list with a publication of 125, a total citation of over 17,000, and an H-index of 56.
This makes XMUM ranked top 92 among Chinese universities in terms of the number of highly cited scholars.
With the research data from Scopus, Elsevier's abstract and citation database launched in 2004, this year, the list honors 5,216 researchers from 504 institutions, covering 10 subject areas and 84 subjects.
Now serving as the Assistant Dean of School of Energy and Chemical Engineering and Director of Center of Excellence for NaNo Energy & Catalysis Technology (CONNECT), the research interests of Dr. Ong Wee Jun include the development of hybrid nanostructures and nanocomposites for water splitting, CO2 reduction, N2 reduction and organic chemical synthesis via photocatalysis, electrocatalysis, photoelectrocatalysis and photothermal catalysis as well as microwave plasma methane cracking for graphene and hydrogen production.
Dr. Ong Wee Jun has recently been awarded the Nanoscale 2023 Emerging Investigator by Royal Society of Chemistry. Moreover, he has also received Global Highly Cited Researcher by Clarivate Analytics for a consecutive 4 years from 2019 to 2022.
