Research and Postgraduate Centre (RPC) established the XMUM Postgraduate Student Council (PGSC) in February 2023. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wang Changsong (Head of Department of Advertising and Journalism) is an advisor to the PGSC 2023 alongside Dr. Angela Paul a/p Peter from Postgraduate Studies Unit (PSU) under RPC as the mentor of PGSC.

The vision of establishing PGSC is to build a vibrant and collaborative postgraduate community that enhances the postgraduate student experience at XMUM. The PGSC comprised 12 postgraduate students from various disciplinary backgrounds. PGSC will be a student-run association that mainly serves to develop rapport among postgraduate students by expanding the postgraduate students’ social network with stakeholders and being the voice of postgraduate students.

The first PGSC meeting was held at the postgraduate lounge (A2#113) on 8 February 2023 under the guidance of Dr. Wang Changsong and Dr. Angela Paul a/p Peter. The meeting started with an ice-breaking session among all PGSC members. Chin Min Yee, a Master’s student in New Energy Science and Engineering from XMUM School of Energy and Chemical Engineering, was elected as the president of PGSC 2023 through an internal voting session involving the council members. Upon her appointment as the PGSC president, Chin Min Yee led the rest of the council members in developing the PGSC organisation framework (illustrated in the organisation chart below).
