In the past month, XMUM Innovation Centre conducted two online meetings with UBTECH Robotics Corp. Ltd. and Siasun Automation (S) Pte. Ltd. respectively, to explore potential collaboration in the field of artificial intelligence and robotics. 

Dr. Tan Jian Ding and Dr. Chua Chong Chai from XMUM School of Electrical and Computer Engineering with a specification in robotics, artificial intelligence and text processing also attended the meetings.

Held on September 17, the meeting with UBTECH Robotics Corp. Ltd. was hosted by Ms. Phang Xiao Shen from China Telecom (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd, an important partner of UBTECH. The direction of potential collaboration between the industry players and XMUM was discussed.

The meeting with Siasun Automation (S) Pte. Ltd. focused on the collaborative possibilities and potential further initiatives. An update on the progress of Siasun was given by Mr. Anson Chong Kah Kee, Siasun’s Programme Manager. Their contribution and experience in robotics education and training system were discussed, as well as the possibility of localizing them in Malaysia.

It is hoped that the meetings would help promote students’ creativity and innovation in the area of artificial intelligence and robotics.
