Department of Journalism and Advertising, Xiamen University Malaysia has published the second issue of their student-run newsletter X-Pression, featuring events throughout the September 2021 semester.

The newsletter, which is the product of an editorial committee of 15 journalism students, aims to record events and stories written by student reporters of the Journalism Programme.

Head of Journalism Department, Associate Professor Dr. Wang Changsong, said that this edition sustains the tradition of X-Pression and reflects practical skills in news reporting and editing.

"It may motivate junior students to integrate theoretical learning and professional training,” Dr. Wang said.

X-Pression editor Sean Elijah Tan said the September 2021 edition of the newsletter was an effort to revive it after editorial work had stopped due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Sean added that the newsletter wouldn’t be possible without the efforts put in it by the editorial committee and the help of their lecturers, namely Dr. Jeyasushma Veeriah, Mr. Chandrasekaran Veeraiah, Mr. Muhammad Afiq B. Sukiman, and Ms. Tang Ying Ying.

X-Pression layout artist Ng Jia Yin said that the preservation of the newsletter would benefit future journalism students.

"As I am going to graduate soon, I hope X-Pression can last long so that alumni could read more about all the exciting events that happen around the campus. It is also a great platform to train future journalists,” Jia Yin said.
