2025-11-13

At 10 am on 10 November 2025, a first aid training session was held at Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM). The session opened with a question from Dr. Li Linlin, Deputy Director of Health Management at Xiamen Cardiovascular Hospital, Xiamen University:

"What should you do if a classmate suddenly collapses in class?"

Using this real-life scenario as a beginning, Dr. Li Linlin introduced some essential life-saving techniques, including Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

The training formed part of the AED Donation Ceremony, during which Standard Services Tech Sdn. Bhd. donated 26 AED units to XMUM, achieving full AED coverage across all campus buildings.

Speaking on behalf of the donor, Mr. Lin Murong, Vice Chairman of Standard Services Technology Co., Ltd. (Shenzhen) and Chairman of Standard Services Tech Sdn. Bhd. (Malaysia), expressed his gratitude and commitment to his alma mater. As an alumnus of Xiamen University’s School of Economics, he said it was an honor and a responsibility to contribute to the safety of the Malaysian campus.

"As Xiamen University alumni, it is our duty to support our university wherever we can," he said. "We hope students will uphold the Tan Kah Kee spirit - giving back to society and never hesitating to do good, no matter how small the act."

On behalf of XMUM, Vice President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zhang Ying extended her appreciation to the donor. She highlighted that the AED installation significantly enhances the campus emergency response system and reflects the continued support of XMU alumni.

"Campus safety is built on collaborative report," she said. "The AED donation will not only improve our emergency preparedness but also inspire more students and alumni to give back and contribute to society."

Following the donation ceremony, Dr. Li Linlin and Mr. Lin Han Tao, Regional Faculty and Coordinator for the American Heart Association Emergency Training Program, conducted three training sessions, covering the causes and prevention of sudden cardiac arrest, CPR and AED techniques, and emergency response strategies.
