On 5 November 2025, Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM) successfully held the Career Fair 2025, organized by the university's Career Services Office. The event attracted 65 companies, offering over 1,500 job positions and 1,000 internship opportunities to XMUM students and alumni.

The fair attracted strong participation, with students coming well-prepared to meet company representatives and discuss future career opportunities.

According to Mr. Terry Sim from XMUM Career Services Office, this year's fair featured a wider variety of industries compared to previous years. Well-known technology companies such as Tencent, Shopee, and OPPO participated in the event and were highly popular among students. Meanwhile, several companies opened positions for international students, catering to XMUM’s diverse student community and meeting the employment needs of students from different national backgrounds.

Beyond the tech sector, companies from banking, consulting, manufacturing, logistics, and education also drew considerable attention. Participants included multinational corporations such as PwC, HSBC, Agoda, Hitachi, and Fuji; Chinese enterprises operating in Malaysia such as ICBC, EVE Energy, MINISO, and Kibing Glass; as well as reputable local firms including Public Bank, 99 Speedmart, GDEX, Top Glove, and Hong Leong Industries.

The fair received an enthusiastic response from students. Shu Xin, a third-year student from Zhejiang, China, attended the event to seek internship opportunities with local companies.

"I learned about this event through the university’s official email. I mainly wanted to learn more about Tencent and PwC," said Shu Xin. "Having studied in Malaysia for two years, I have some understanding of the local market. I hope to secure an internship here and make full use of my strengths."

Khaw Tze Wei, a final-year E-Commerce student, left the hall with several bags filled with brochures from different companies. I've attended every career fair since I enrolled, he shared enthusiastically. "This year, I can clearly see more diversity in the participating companies. I prepared my resume and cover letter early and applied to several positions, especially Shopee's digital marketing role, which I'm particularly interested in."

Company representatives also spoke highly of XMUM students and the overall organization of the fair.

Cindy, a representative from Hitachi eBworx, a financial consulting company of the Hitachi, mentioned that this was their first time attending XMUM's career fair. "The event was well-organized and business-friendly, with a clear process and an orderly environment," she said. "I encourage students to visit company websites and apply for positions that align with their abilities and long-term goals."

Sheldon Toh from Tencent shared the company's confidence in expanding its operations in Malaysia and emphasized its commitment to talent recruitment through collaboration with XMUM. "We're offering technical, functional, and sales-related positions this year," he said. "Besides opportunities in Malaysia, students can also apply for roles at Tencent's headquarters in China and other global branches, giving them a wide range of career options."

Mr. Terry Sim added that beyond large-scale career fairs, the Career Services Office organizes a variety of other initiatives to support students' career development.

"In addition to the career fair, we regularly hold company visitation and road show throughout the year," he said. "These activities help strengthen partnerships between the university and employers while giving students deeper insights into companies and access to potential job opportunities."
