On 18 and 19 October 2025, speedcubers of various ages across Malaysia have gathered at Xiamen University Malaysia to participate in XMUM Cube Days 2025, the 1st Cubing Festival in Malaysia.
XMUM Cube Days 2025 is an innovative event concept introduced by XMUM Rubik's Club. The event not only involves interactive yet professional workshops but also introduces competitive speedcubing on a whole new perspective. With the support of sponsors such as the Malaysia Cube Sports Association (MYCSA) and vendors like Xiao Jiu Zhou and Kedai Makan FeiFei, XMUM Cube Days 2025 continues to fulfil XMUM Rubik’s Club’s vision of promoting cubing as a fun and engaging activity to all participants without any age restriction.
On 18 October 2025, several professional speedcubers with former winning and national titles were invited to tutor participants to improve their current skill levels. One of these speedcubers was Leong Lap Tat, a former national record holder for the Pyraminx puzzle, who is also currently studying at XMUM. Participants received exclusive teaching and experience-sharing sessions, but also engaged in fun games to keep the atmosphere lively.

On the following day, participants were given a chance to participate in a special speedcubing competition centered around non-WCA (World Cube Association) puzzles such as Mirror Blocks and former WCA events such as 3x3 No Inspection. The purpose of this competition is to emphasize cubing as a fun activity with various possibilities, breaking the stereotype that only official WCA puzzles exist in the cubing world. At the end of the day, Lim Kai Yi, a 132-time Guinness World Record Holder for multiple non-WCA puzzles, won first place for most of the events.
