Delegation from Beijing University of Chinese Medicine Visits XMUM

On 21 October, a delegation from Beijing University of Chinese Medicine (BUCM) visited Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM) for an academic exchange and discussion on potential future collaborations.

The visiting delegation consisted of:

  • Prof. Dr. Zhai Shuangqing: Formal Vice President of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, Executive Deputy Director of National Center for Development of Traditional Chinese Medicine Education

  • Jiao Nan: Executive Vice President of the National Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine Higher Education of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, Deputy Director of the National Center for Development of Traditional Chinese Medicine Education

  • Liu Yu: Section Chief of the National Center for Development of Traditional Chinese Medicine Education, Beijing University of Chinese Medicine

As part of the visit, Prof. Dr. Zhai Shuangqing delivered a captivating talk titled "黄帝内经——认识人体的知识" ("Huangdi Neijing: Understanding the Human Body"), which drew a full audience. The lecture hall was filled to capacity, reflecting the keen interest of students and staff in Traditional Chinese Medicine and classical Chinese medical texts.

Following the talk, several students eagerly approached Prof. Dr. Zhai Shuangqing for his autograph, bringing along copies of his textbook, 《内经选读》, a nationally planned teaching material series under the "Twelfth Five-Year", "Thirteenth Five-Year", "Fourteenth Five-Year", and "Fifteenth Five-Year" education plans, for which he serves as the chief editor.

After the talk, a meeting was held between XMUM and BUCM, attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zhang Ying, Vice President of XMUM. During the meeting, representatives from XMUM introduced the university and the School of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and both parties engaged in a constructive discussion on potential collaborations - including co-organising academic events, jointly drafting international guidelines for Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) training, and other cooperative initiatives.
