Spearheaded by China-ASEAN College of Marine Sciences (CAMS), Xiamen University Malaysia, the 1st Annual Forum for Early Career Scientists in Marine Science was successfully held at XMUM from 14 to 15 March 2024.

The forum aims to provide a platform for early-career scientists in the field of marine sciences to share knowledge and connect with other budding researchers and senior scientists.

The 1.5-day forum saw a total of 19 presentations from the five co-organizing institutions, including a variety of topics under the bigger “umbrella” of marine science. A total of 86 participants from 11 organizations attended the event.

During the forum, researchers were allowed to present their work to the Malaysian research community, receiving insightful comments from peers and senior experts, as well as to mingle with other young scholars to exchange ideas and information.

The forum was co-organized by five leading institutions in Malaysia in the field of marine science, namely XMUM, Universiti Malaya (UM), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), and Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT).
