The Consortium for Mathematics and Its Applications (COMAP) has announced the result of the 2023 Mathematical Contest in Modeling (MCM) and Interdisciplinary Contest in Modeling (ICM). Participating teams from Xiamen University Malaysia won 5 Meritorious Winner, 7 Honorable Mention, and 15 Successful Participant. 

This year, 20,858 teams representing institutions from 21 countries/regions participated in the contest. The contest ran over a single weekend from Thursday, February 16 to Monday, February 20, 2023, during which teams of three students were required to research, model, and write a solution to an open-ended real-world modeling problem.

MCM/ICM is an international contest designed to provide undergraduate students with the opportunity to to engage in and improve their modeling, problem solving, and writing skills. Teams apply mathematics to model, develop, and communicate a solution to a real-world problem.
