Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Asia Aquaculture (M) Sdn Bhd - a company under Charoen Pokphand Malaysia - on 7 March 2023, to initiate collaboration on research and talent development.
The MOU was signed by Mr. Weerawut Hiranmateekul, the Director of Asia Aquaculture (M) Sdn Bhd and Prof. Wang Ruifang, the President of XMUM.

Mr. Kelvin Lim Huah Seng, the Assistant Vice President of HR Department of Charoen Pokphand Malaysia, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yeap Swee Keong, the Assistant Dean of China-ASEAN College of Marine Sciences witnessed the ceremony.
With the aims of benefiting the aquaculture industry in Malaysia and contributing to the advancement of aquaculture science in the region, under this MoU, XMUM and Asia Aquaculture will work together on student and faculty exchanges, joint workshops, seminars and Ready-to-Work programmes offered by Charoen Pokphand Malaysia.
The two parties will also explore opportunities for research projects related to sustainable aquaculture practices, disease control, and genetics of aquatic animals.

According to Prof. Wang Ruifang, XMUM has been committed to promoting research and innovation in the field of aquaculture, and this partnership is a step forward in achieving our goals and we look forward to working closely with them.
Mr. Weerawut Hiranmateekul also expressed his excitement about the partnership: We are pleased to work with Xiamen University Malaysia to enhance our understanding of sustainable aquaculture practices and contribute to the growth of the industry.
