XMUM Campus Career Fair 2022 Connects Students with Employers


Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM) held its second Campus Career Fair on 23 November 2022, attracting about 2,000 participants to join the event.

Organized by XMUM Career Services Office, 49 top industry leaders set up booths at the fair and provided more than 500 employment opportunities and 200 internship placements to XMUM students and graduates.


The Career Fair hopes to promote engagement between key industry partners and the University, and to open windows of opportunity for students to gain more information on potential employers and explore employment prospects.

During the Opening Ceremony, Mr. Heng Hua Teck, the Assistant President of Xiamen University Malaysia, thanked the companies on behalf of the University for their continuous support to the students and their eagerness in wanting to recruit them. 


The event offers an insightful treat to a plethora of industries covering those from banking, consulting, construction, real estate, software and chemical engineering, in order to afford students a global platform of leading industries. 

The participating companies include multinational corporations such as Public Bank, Deloitte, Genting Malaysia, Baker Hughes, BDO, Dunham-Bush, and Accenture; and reputable Chinese companies like Huawei, Edra Power Holdings, Cosco Shipping Lines, Jinko Solar, Xinyi Glass, YonYou and etc. One-fourth of the participants are Chinese enterprises.



An undergraduate from the 2022/09 Chinese Studies programme, Wang Sheng Jie signed up for the event to learn more about the current job market: 

“I applied for the internship position at an online education company, which might be my first internship in Malaysia,” she said.

Cai Wei from the 2021/09 Software Engineering programme was surprised by the scale of the fair:

“I rushed to the Carrier Fair right after my class ended. Though the job market is cooling off, I still saw many opportunities for ICT professionals - I really appreciate the efforts behind the scene.”

As a final year student, Hu Jingying from Mathematics and Applied Mathematics Programme hoped to secure an internship position with this chance. "When I ask the companies whether international students can be accepted, many of them give me firm confirmation. I suddenly feel my career path becomes much smoother."

Ng Ee Vien, a student from the 2021/09 Advertising programme, thanked the Career Services team for organizing the event:

“Career Services team has outdone themselves by organizing such a tremendous event that can potentially assist students in securing an internship and job placement. Kudos to the team!”

To equip students with the necessary skills for internship, career placement and professional development, Career Services Office organizes workshops on resume writing, interview tips, and professional grooming, apart from its regular career talks and mock interview sessions.

Xiamen University Malaysia is the first overseas campus set up by a renowned Chinese University, with over 6,000 students from 25 countries and regions on campus. Currently, the University provides 22 undergraduate programmes, 10 master's programmes and 5 PhD programmes, covering arts, sciences, business, engineering and traditional Chinese medicine.
