The Center for Postgraduate Studies and Research congratulates Hoy Zheng Xuan, a master’s student from the School of Energy and Chemical Engineering, on receiving the Overall Best Presenter Award at the 3rd World Conference on Waste Management (WCWM) 2022 which took place during 10-11 Mar 2022 virtually.
During the conference, Zheng Xuan presented his work entitled “Improving Forecast Reliability for Heterogeneous Municipal Solid Waste via Bayesian-Optimized Neural Network and Ensemble Forecast”, which has been carried out under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Ts. Dr. Vincent Woon Kok Sin.
His presentation proposes an artificial neural network framework to forecast municipal solid waste generation with reduced uncertainties. A further application in the energy content evaluation of municipal solid waste displays the practicality of the findings in offering valuable information for developing and capacity planning of waste treatment facilities.
This work is in collaboration with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chin Wen Cheong from XMUM Department of Mathematics.
The 3rd WCWM 2022 attracted the participation of over 40 scientists, practitioners, academicians, researchers, scholars, activists, and professionals from more than 15 countries across the globe under the theme Challenges & Practices on Waste Management and Covid-19 Post-Pandemic.
