A delegation consisting of 28 students and faculty members from Mathematics and Applied Mathematics Programme of Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM) paid a one-week academic visit to Xiamen University China (XMU) earlier this month.

This visit has successfully strengthened the bond with the School of Mathematical Sciences of Xiamen University (SMS) and encouraged deeper academic collaboration between the two campuses.

During the visit, XMUM students and faculty members were invited to sit in a few courses provided by SMS, such as Advanced Algebra, Mathematical Analysis and Differential Geometry.

To better exchange ideas on academic research, the delegation held a joint workshop with SMS on the third day of the visit. Ten faculties members from both campuses gave seminar talks on their research findings, which proved to be useful and productive for all the participants.

As it was the time of XMU’s 98th Anniversary, the delegation participated in a few celebratory events, including watching “Goldbach’s Conjecture”, a drama commemorating the famous mathematician Chen Jingrun, who had once studied and taught at SMS.
